SENT VIA EMAIL to all students of FA111.01 on 03.18.2020 1:30 PM
Good afternoon to each of you!
I want to bring you up to date for the way the class will be conducted as well as give you my VIRTUAL OFFICE HOURS.
They are M through F from 9 - 11 AM and by appointment by responding to me via email jpepper@cazenovia.edu
(Please make sure you are not using my jepepper@gmail.com or jepepper@me.com address!)
Should this not work for you, please inform me of the time that would work best for you.
If you just need to talk, I can call you, upon your request, or FaceTime, and/or pretty much any other way you wish.
Just know that I am here for you to make these last few weeks as informative as possible, as helpful, as supportive in all the ways I know how, while gaining knowledge of the course content and quite frankly, having fun doing it!
As you know from my earlier emails, moving the course online for all your professors has been enormous.
All courses will be ready to go on MON MAR 23.
So make sure you drop into ALL your COURSES at this date, should you not have been contacted already by one of your profs.
Our Art History 1 course luckily has been on-line all along.
Yahhoooo!!
This way you all know how to maneuver the blog and gain what you need to know.
I will be mounting additional videos, lectures, class notes, links, just as I always have, so you can have access to them at any time.
What you won’t have to do:
You will NOT have to come into a video conference call at a certain time to have access to one of my lectures.
All of these will be mounted to view at your own scheduled time best for you!
Instead, like always, you will be able to see all lecture notes on our class blog at SP2020cazFA111.blogspot.com
This is why I wanted to make sure you are able to navigate the course blog easily!!
I want you to make use of the course ON YOUR TIME!
That being said, as your professor, I am still expecting 6 hours of class work per week to be a successful participant in the course.
Doing this will assist you in completing this course successfully!
Tests will take the form of open book, fill in the blank, multiple choice, short answer and some analytical questioning on your part.
You each know from my earlier notifications that I had extended RESEARCH PAPER #1/2
Sent to you via 03.13.2020 > please send remotely to Pepper on MAR 24th at jpepper@cazenovia.edu with the subject title: Your last name / paper #1/2
WORD.doc only with your images embedded. Follow exactly what the assignment asks of you. This has not changed.
Research Paper #2/2 will be announced shortly and posted to the blog.
Like always, you can send me a draft of this paper 10 calendar days in advance of the due date.
You also have available at your fingertips CTL tutors on-line. Check with their offices.
I will alert each member of the class of any changes to the blog that is made via email — so, obviously, check this regularly too!
The Multi Media Presentation will have to change to be an online presentation that I will assign very shortly. Subsequently, all students will create a short and informative written response to two of these presentations.
As your professor, I am still committed to having each student complete five quizzes and dropping the lowest grade.
Obviously, if you are a student that is doing A work first four quizzes, and in your papers, you need not take the final test — but you should ask this of me before hand to make sure.
Distribution of Grades
- 4 Exams -- 20% each = 80%
Five exams are distributed evenly throughout the semester. The lowest grade of the five will be disregarded from the student's overall grade in this area.
Dates of each are on the course calendar page.
No changes from original syllabus
- Two research papers will be required totaling 5% each, equalling a total of 10% overall The due dates are noted on the calendar page. No changes from original syllabus
- Student multimedia presentation cumulate towards 5% Change to: ON-LINE presentation only
- Participation, attendance and course engagement 5% Change to: ON-LINE written critique of 2 students’ presentations
I will be posting a NEW Course Calendar with dates shortly and will alert you of the same.
I am also trying to accommodate each of you with free copied CHAPTERS from our text with the publisher, PEARSON. > More on that when the publishers get back to me.
So I hope this answers any questions no doubt, each of you are thinking about.
If I have not answered them, please ask via replying to this email.
Best to each of you, your family and all your friends!
In Health!!
